Tartan Heart 2008 The Belladrum Festival Friday 8th and Saturday 9th August, winner of the UK Festival Grass Roots Festival award 2008



"Belladrum is sometimes described as the "Glastonbury of the North", but it is much broader in its appeal. People from all social and class backgrounds are here and you quite literally see three generations of the same family all jumping to the same infectious rhythms. It is becoming a real focus of community cohesion and not a little pride among the thousands who gather here that they can stage something like this in the Highlands. Medicine Music have been involved in promotion publicity and booking the Belladrum Festival from Year one. This award winning year The Waterboys headlined in Beauly, Inverness-shire, on Saturday, August 9, and have added to a bill that includes Scouting For Girls, and Scots indie favourites Idlewild. Heritage rockers Jefferson Starship also made their Scottish festival debut. Medicine Music book the roots acts across all stages and organise the potting shed stage and the belladrum fringe, many say it was the best Bella yet. Which is reflected in the winning of the award this year, we at the festival are delighted to be recognised in this way, I am personaly delighted that it is this most fitting award, and extend congratulations to all who work on the festival and to our friends and coleges who help to put the Fringe and Potting Shed Stage together. 2009 will be Aug 7 8 next year watch this space.
