Starting out in late 2005/early 2006. Absence were originally a three piece consisting of James Kerins on Bass, Allan Dunbar on Guitar and Finnbar Connell on Drums. Playing basic covers such as "Four Words to Choke Upon" made famoun by Bullet For My Valentine and "Killing in the Name" by the Immortal Rage Against The Machine, Absence began to create a sound that they themselves would attempt to take on as a band.
Soon realising something was missing, the Three piece became a four piece with the addition of Mark Hudson on Vocals and dabbling in Bagpipes. Over the next few months, the band laid down what would become a set of highly energetic covers to say the least. Then something clicked, they needed another piece...Enter Jordan Turner on Guitar.
For what is basically the next three months, the band were writing their own stuff and getting their name out there. playing all about inverness and around scotland
And now nearly a full two years on, On August 1st the band will embark on what will very possibly be, their very last gig. Will their live reputation stand them in good stead, will this be the one off where nothing clicks? I think not... because Absence Of Presence, always a band that have managed to send the Audience home, happy and knackered, will be there to burn the memory of AOP into people's minds one last time. There are sure to be some fireworks on stage!
